Web applications are online systems which enable organisations to benefit from Internet technologies. We have many years of experience in the specification, design and system development of a variety of interactive web applications. Using a range of open source and commercial technologies including PHP, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Adobe Coldfusion we have successfully created many applications, which include:

The TUC aim to unite people to provide fairness in the way we work for the economy, and the ways our economy works for us. In order to do this the TUC have setup a website named Going To Work. As part of the website the TUC asked us to develop an online application which would allow their users to send birthday e-cards to celebrate the 63rd birthday of the NHS to members of the House of Lords to coincide with the Government’s Health and Social Care Bill. We built an application which was integrated into the existing website framework via it's API. The flexible system allows the TUC to re-purpose the application to use for alternative campaigns.
TUC UnionReps is a secure web portal specifically aimed at TUC union representatives across the UK. The TUC are continually improving communication channels for their representatives, as well as keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies for the Extranet site. With this in mind, we introduced an application mash-up with existing union reps data and Google Maps. Based upon the geographical location of the Union Rep (defined by their own user profile), users are able to find other Union Reps or Groups in their area and link through to their profile page for contact details and related discussion forum postings.
Oil & Gas UK asked us to develop an online events system which allowed them to post a variety of events and workshops on the main website, and enabled users to book and pay for them online. The system needed to include functionality to allow staff to monitor and track bookings, provide invoices, create badges automatically from delegate lists and send email alerts out to registered site visitors. We decided to enhance the existing events diary functionality which already allowed staff to publish event details, venue details, location maps, documents and reports and expand it to provide a full management and marketing system. Payment card transactions are integrated with Barclays ePDQ, with an automatic update to the delegates details once the payment has been accepted. All cheque transactions are flagged separately, which can be monitored via the management system.

As the ITF were holding their 42ndCongress in August 2010 in Mexico City, they approached us to develop a stand alone site for the congress, which would fully support nine languages and be navigable in each. The main purpose of the site was to provide information and documents for the congress and its delegates, and after congress to serve as a record of what was discussed and then outcomes and resolutions. Driven by a robust CMS the site allowed administrators to fully manage and publish content, including video, blog , Twitter and Flickr feeds.
The TUC asked us to develop a modular online payments facility that would be extensible for the future so as to enable the payment of additional services and goods, including publications and events. In addition to producing both receipts and invoices, the payments system integrates securely with Barclaycard, who provide real-time card payment authorisation. Recently the system was upgraded and integrated with the new 3-D secure requirement, which is the new technical standard developed by Visa and Mastercard to improve online transaction security.

As a result of the Government’s requirements for councils to provide all services online, we were asked by the London Borough of Camden to help them deliver key payment services, including fines, rates, rents and council tax. To deliver this we developed a modular system so that service users could navigate through the process without confusion, and to allow further payment types to be added in the future.
