We endeavour to view all suppliers to Oxford Innovation as strategic partners and always work on the basis of mutual trust. When creating technical solutions such as websites and customer-facing online services, where much confidential data is managed, it is crucial that we work with experienced organisations who are highly competent and proactive. Oxford Web Applications is such a business where their technical ability, creativity and quiet confidence all work together to provide a first-class, premium solution and we would be delighted to recommend them.

The brief

Oxford Web Applications was approached by Oxford Innovations to participate in a tender process to redevelop the organisation’s Access to Finance (A2F) service website.

A2F is a European Regional Development Fund-supported programme helping businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to raise funds and grow.

Following submission of our tender response and further interviews with Oxford Innovations, we were appointed as the successful supplier to create the new A2F website.

What we did

As part of the tender specification, Oxford Innovations identified certain enhancements and user tools needed on the new website. We reviewed the requirements and recommended deployment of Drupal – a modern, open-source content management system. This enabled us to successfully develop all the new features while also giving the in-house team flexibility to manage and update the site's content when necessary.

The A2F website acts as a portal for companies seeking investment or presenting and pitching ideas to interested parties. Functionality on the site includes registration for investors and businesses alongside a range of complementary user services and systems, including a secure messaging facility. The site is fully responsive for desktop and mobile use.

About Oxford Innovation

About Oxford Innovation

Oxford Innovation has its roots in the first commercial spin-out from Oxford University – Oxford Instruments PLC, established in 1959.

Prompted by some of the entreprenuerial challenges they faced, founders Martin and Audrey Wood were inspired to set up The Oxford Trust, a charity supporting the region’s science and technology ecosystem. It was through this organisation that Oxford Innovation was born in 1987.

Since then, Oxford Innovation has supported over 7,000 SMEs on their way to becoming sustainable businesses, creating high-value jobs and innovative products and services, enhancing local economies as a result.

Today, Oxford Innovation manages over 1,000 early-stage businesses – the largest network of innovation centres in the UK.
